WDNX History Mission Vision Values
History
Albert Nielsen, a long time Harbert Hills Academy staff member, believed that a radio station on our campus would be a learning opportunity for the students as well as an outreach to the community. In the late 1960’s Mr. Nielsen received authorization from the Rural Life Foundation Board of Directors to move forward with developing the radio station as funds were available. Soon after Mr. Nielsen’s mother, Dorothy Kramer Nielsen donated a sum of money sufficient to get the project moving forward. In about 1970 the station went on the air and began broadcasting on a limited schedule. After several years Mr. Nielsen applied for an increase in power and received authorization to move the power up to 100,000 watts. This power would give us a very broad coverage area of most of West Tennessee, Northeast Mississippi, andNorthwest Alabama. In 1998 WDNX affiliated with LifeTalk Radio an Adventist Radio Network. This affiliation allowed us to move to broadcasting 24 hours per day. In 2003 a new 500 foot tower was constructed, this enhanced the stations coverage and gave a better signal in many areas. Several years later a translator station was added in Pulaski Tennessee to provide local coverage where the signal was spotty. WDNX continues to broadcast the Good News of the Gospel 24 hours per day 7 days per week.
